Benedikt Josef is a freelance architect, designer and writer based in New York City. 

Benedikt’s work practice is grounded in a strong multi-disciplinary focus, encompassing architecture, interiors, product design, curation and visual communication. Having worked with internationally renowned and award-winning architectural firms in the US and Australia (including WORKac, SOM and McBride Charles Ryan), Benedikt has over 8 years’ experience in the design and execution of high-profile cultural, institutional, residential, and high-rise projects around the world. 

Since 2014, Benedikt has worked as Design Editor at Melting Butter, a leading online publication covering design, culture and travel. He has also taught at the University of Melbourne, tutoring design and visualization. 

Born in Germany and educated in Australia, Benedikt completed his Bachelor of Architecture with 1st class honors at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2007, having also studied at the Technische Universität in Berlin.

Benedikt's current projects include an illustrated book, a site-specific art installation in the Manhattan streetscape, and several ongoing creative collaborations.
